The Korean government scholarship program for students who graduate
The purpose of the Korean government scholarship program is to provide foreign students with opportunities to conduct academic research in higher education institutions in the Republic of Korea to promote international exchange in education and mutual friendship between of countries.

2. Total candidates for selecting
The number of candidates for selection depends on the party entitled to the scholarship program. For more information, please contact the Korean Embassy or Consulate in the country of origin.
3. Academic Programs & Institutions
- Academic degree: Master and PhD degree and degree (Ph.D.)
- Institutions: all graduate schools in Korea
- Who want to enter specific graduate school, such as MBA, international research, medical, dental and law school must obtain permission from separate NIIED.
- The applicants major science and engineering are the preferred choice.
4. Application Version
4.1. Undesignated procedures for those who apply (158 candidates): You may apply for the program, without limitation university after completion of the Korean language courses.
Eligible candidates for unrestricted procedure
- Refer to the mutual agreement between Korea and the country of origin
- That the candidate was invited by a department of Korean Government
- Adopted Koreans are foreign nationality
- The candidate with good knowledge of Korean
P., to have a certificate TOPIK level 5 or 6
B. who majored in Korean language and Korean literature or research, and a bachelor’s degree thereof, or the country of origin
c. TOPIK a certificate level 4 and completed four years of courses and students completed the two year course in Korea
TOPIK year certificate level 4 and worked in Korean Korean government institution or company for more than two years
4.2. Specified for submission of applications (192 applicants): You may be awarded only by universities designated NIIED.

5. Duration
And Master courses: 3 years (1 year Korean language & 2 years was the master of course)
Doctoral course: 4 years (1 year Korean language & 3 year Ph.D. course)
6. Academic Training
After 1 year of the Korean language training, master’s or doctorate is of course, are respected.
Students may not change from their majors MA to PhD students.
(1) Korean language
Duration: 1 year (after recording the degree course, further training is possible depending on the level of students Proficiency)
Institution: Language instituition is defined by NIIED
Students must be proficient in Korean language because the majority of lectures will be conducted in Korean.
7. Qualifications
- The applicant and his parents should have the nationality of the country of origin
* The applicant must be holders of Korean nationality.
- The applicant must have adequate health, both physical and thinking, to stay abroad for an extended period
* Year is pregnant or having a serious illness can not be used
- The applicant with the same academic courses in Korea are the same as apply to them are not allowed.
- People can help in establishing relationships of mutual between Korea and the country of origin
- Must be under 40 years old from September 1, 2009
- Hold a bachelor’s degree to master “is a course or MA and Ph.D. from the courses on September 1, 2009
- Get the grade point average (GPA) of over 85% of the last institution attended
8. Scholarship for payment
(1) Scholarship Period: 1 year in Korean language and 2 years for Masters and courses, or 3 years of Ph.D. course
(2) Payment
-Airfare: Round trip economy class ticket
-Monthly Allowance: 900,000 won per month
Research grants: 210,000 won for students in human and social sciences; 240,000 won for students in science and the mechanic termtime
-Relocation allowance: 200,000 won for
Language paid for learning: The total value of 1 year (NIIED paid directly to institutions entrusted language)
Tuitions-: full entrance fee are exempted by host institutions. The full study is excluded from NIIED.
Print-paper costs: Up to 500,000 won are reimbursed in respect of costs associated with printing paper. (Up to 800,000 won for art or physical education course)
-Medical insurance: 15,000 won per month
9. Procedures for awarding scholarships
-Application Guide is available from NIIED website (http://www.niied. Go.kr / NIIED_ ENG / NIIED_ MAIN00/main_ winter.jsp) and Korean missions abroad
-The applicant must submit the required documents Korean mission to the country of origin.
Overseas-Korean mission select 1.5 times more qualified candidates as the number assigned by NIIED.
Overseas-Korean mission recommend candidates elected to NIIED.
NIIED-selects final candidates and let Korean overseas mission results.
10. Required documentation
The following documents must be submitted:
(1) Place of submission: The documents must be submitted to the Korean mission to the country of origin
(2) the submission deadline: the date set by the Korean mission to the country of origin
Korean mission should submit the documents to NIIED from May 29, 2009.
(3) Documents submitted
- An application form (form)
- Two 4 x 5 centimeters centimeter color photos
- A pledge NIIED (model)
- A self-introduction essay (form)
- A study plan (model)
- Two recommendation letters (from the applicant is a professor, dean, or the principal or the organization of applicants belonged to)
- A personal health assessment (form)
- A copy of bachelor’s degree is to apply for MA and of course
A copy of bachelor’s degree and a copy of a master’s degree is to apply for Ph.D. course
- Transcript
A copy of the student rate for those who apply for MA and of course
A copy of the courses and students a copy of the master ’s course for those who apply for courses for doctors
- Citizenship certificate applicants and one of the parents if the applicant is a Korean resident abroad
- Documents proving the relationship between the applicant and a parent
- Documents proving the applicant works for a career in institutions or companies Korean (only applicable for people)
- Certificates of TOPIK, TOEFL, TEPS, or IELTS
- A health certificate authorized by a physician (only for candidates who filtered and recommend the Korean missions abroad)
(4) Note
- Forms and other materials, the program must be completed in Korean or English.
Certificate presented credentials to the original, but are issued in another language must include the official translation verified by a notary.
- The documentation is not returned to applicants.
- Incomplete or incorrect documents are subject to refusal of NIIED.
- In case of submission of documents copied unavoidable, candidates must submit the original Korean mission and compare the two documents.
11. Selection Schedule
- Recommendation deadline: May 29, 2009
- Final selection of NIIED: June 30, 2009
- Results Note: July 3, 2009
- Entry of Korea: Aug 25 Aug 28
- Korean: September 1, 2009
